Have you noticed a change in the issuance of A1 documents ?

In December 2023, as part of the computerisation of services, the Social Insurance Institution introduced a more efficient processing of applications for the issue of the portable A1 document (PD A1), which is usually requested by an employee in the event of posting to work in another EU Member State or in the event of work in two or more countries.

The A1 document issued confirms that the employee is compulsorily insured for social security purposes in Slovakia and is therefore not obliged to be insured in another EU Member State.

The Social Insurance Institution can process the application more efficiently if the application is submitted electronically via www.slovensko.sk. An electronically submitted application should be processed by the Social Insurance Institution in a much shorter time. Our experience with this process so far has been positive.
