E-invoicing from 1 January 2027: what businesses need to know now (webinar summary)

Ľubomíra Murgašová | 23.9.2026 | News

Mandatory e-invoicing in Slovakia is approaching – from 1 January 2027, businesses will have to issue electronic invoices in accordance with the new rules. To help businesses, entrepreneurs and accounting and finance departments prepare in good time, we organised a practical webinar in collaboration with the Slovak-Austrian Chamber of Commerce, which built on our June meeting and went a step further – straight to the details that matter in practice.

What was discussed at the webinar on e-invoicing

The speaker, JUDr. Ľubomíra Murgašová, covered the following topics in detail with the participants:

  • the requirements for e-invoices under the VAT Act – what is valid and what is no longer acceptable,
  • Peppol’s requirements for e-invoice content, mandatory data beyond the scope of the law and validation rules,
  • the latest legislative changes, including the forthcoming amendment, the grace period and changes to data reporting,
  • the most common practical issues – rounding, missing data, corrective documents, rejected invoices,
  • a Plan B in the event of software failure, a digital mail service failure or a business partner failure.

The webinar also included a 30-minute Q&A session, during which Ľubomíra answered specific questions from participants regarding the setup of invoicing processes in their companies.

Why e-invoicing is important right now

There are only a few months left until mandatory e-invoicing comes into force, and most companies have less and less time to prepare. The key issue is not just the technical connection to Peppol, but also whether the invoice contains all the statutory requirements and whether the recipient’s system will reject it.
